Hello,
I am a software developer that runs a small software company in the US. I am looking to hire a new C#/.NET [2.0] developer to help with the creation of several Website Crawlers/Spiders. I am hoping to find someone to assist in several applications, but am posting on GAF to find someone that is reliable, competent, and friendly. I would consider hiring this developer for many other projects based on this first application.
The application I have been working on relies on the data provided by several spiders/crawlers. The crawler will utilize the HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse objects to login to the site, navigate to the correct billing page, and parse all relevant data. Although these objects are not required, I would prefer them. This application must be written in C# 2.0 (maybe VB.NET), but not PHP, Perl, or any other language. The developer will need to know how to handle session states, cookies, and javascript. Most of this is handled almost automatically, but there will be some problem solving in order to determine how to handle the javascript (speaking from experience). Parsing PDF files is a major plus!
The crawler adheres to the robots.txt file and is completely legal. I have several accounts for the site in question so all information will be given to the programmer. I would rather not post the site name in this description, but would be more than happy to provide the site name and the POST data if you were to message me.
The billing information to be parsed is in two parts of the website. There is plain [HTML] text available for current bills and previous bills are available for download. Retrieving just the HTML billing information is acceptable, but I would prefer if the developer could also parse the PDF files. Also, the developer will need to create a simple [class] data type to house the billing information.
Please ask any questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I would like to have this code within a week, but can wait a little longer if it takes more time than expected.
