Description
The purpose of this exercise is to read a file containing a passage of writing and to keep a count of the number of occurrences of each word encountered. The program is to list the words in alphabetical order and record against each the number of times the word wasencountered. The task is to be accomplished by maintaining an ordered linked list in the WordList class. Each node of the linked list will contain a word and a word frequency as well as a pointer to the next node of the list. Every word encountered in the program will be added to the list. If the word is not already in the list, it will be added in the correct position to maintain the complete list in alphabetical order, with its word count set to one. If the word is already in the list, then the existing word count should be increased by one. The WordCounter class, containing the driver program, reads in a file containing a passage of text, adding each new word to a list. If a word is already in the list, a count of occurrences of that word is incremented. The program finally displays a list of the words in alphabetical order, with a count of the number of occurrences of each. Your submission should include the following classes: WordList, WordNode, WordIterator and WordCounter.
