Description
Hello everyone. Thanks for looking at my project.I am going to list the basics of this project. There are small additional aspects, but the main gist of the project will be listed.
I need someone to create a Jave Swing Application that will parse RSS data. Different parts of the data contained in the RSS feed need to be put into a tab-delimited .txt file. I will explain to the winner which parts of the RSS data goes into which field in the tab-delimited file. The RSS feeds that I need parsed contain up to 300 different articles (all of which are formatted the same). I need the program to automatically generate a line of tab-delimited data for each article. In the end, I would like this program to work something like this--> I would open the program (that is created by the winner of this project) and enter the address of the RSS feed (URL) into the program. Then, the program would go through each article inside the feed and create the tab-delimited text file with a line of text for each article.
I will give the winner the exact pieces of the RSS feed that I need placed into the tab-delimited text file. The different fields needed are: Catalog ID, Item Name, Description, MetaTitle, Keywords, SmImage, LgImage, SmImage2, LgImage2, SmImage3, LgImage3, Category Name, Price, Date Entered. For most articles, there are only 2 images, but some contain more... The images part of this project is another aspect that I discuss below! However, all of the other fields will be filled in with data that is within the source code of the RSS feeds and shouldn't be difficult to define where to get the data. Most of the fields are within specific tags of the source code while the unique Category ID is contained within a specific URL (part of a URL, it is 9 numbers long and is always after a certain character and ends with /) in the source code.
For the images, I need the winner to create either a separate Java program or a second step onto the parser program. This functionality needs to be performed first when I am actually using the program(s). It needs to retrieve the image from the given URL (found in the source code of the RSS feed) and copy and save the image onto my local disk on my server. The end of that URL, which is the unique image name, will stay the same and identify the image on my disk. The new image URL will consist of--> http://my server's address/my site name/image name (same image name as found in the source code for the particular article of the RSS feed)... The winner will NEED to get the new beginning of the URL (prefix, before the actual image name) from a Properties file...
The parser program (that the winner creates) needs to automatically rename the image URL found in the source code to match the new image location (again, the end of the image URL needs to stay the same, but the beginning portions of the URL need to change). So, when putting the image URLs in the tab-delimited text file for a particular article (line of text), the URL is referencing my server for the same image.
In theory, the image program will be run daily before the RSS parser program. That way, when the parser code renames the beginning part of the image URL (to point at my server), the image will be there ready to be used!
That should be the entire project! Please, if you cannot complete this project, do not bid. If you have never done a project like this one, do not bid. I need a very reliable, great programmer for this project. Please, when bidding, answer the following questions and provide me with the information requested.
