Description

I have a personal blog at http://KingFriday.co.uk with two main page types. The first page type is the homepage and lists the blog postings. The second page type is a template that all blog postings use to display the actual content for the posting. Both of these pages have some side modules that complement the main content on the page (such as navigation, latest searches for the site, etc). Please visit the website itself and look at the homepage and several of the blog postings. I have also attached a 2 page screen shot of each page type, highlighting the main different areas in the page.

The site does have some very basic CSS currently, so please look at the HTML structure to see how the sections are currently combined and rendered.

I am looking for someone to take the existing content structure as it currently exists, and to create a CSS file to make each page look a lot nicer - I don't have a lot of design skills! There needs to be a maximum one one CSS file per page, so you could do one CSS file for the homepage and one CSS file for the blog posting's page, or you could just produce one CSS file that is shared.

I will not be able to give you direct access to the server or FTP sites, so you'll need to download a local copy of the homepage and a few of the blog pages, and play with the CSS offline locally.

I'm not looking for anything super fancy, just something that looks professional and well designed. It's important to me to have some subtle colors, consistent look across IE and Firefox (my current site's spacing looks different between the two). I'm open to ideas on re-ordering some of the modules if the design looks better.

What I'm looking for is someone with design and CSS skills to propose a couple of layouts that look good, and then to produce the CSS file I can upload to the site. I do have access to the source HTML if there are minor changes required, but each page will need to pass the W2C Validator for well-formed content, and the pages need to remain highly SEO optimized (so no Javascript, etc).

Please include a few examples I can look at of previous work.

thanks!
