Description: Flash MX

I need to achieve a certain effect for a Flash movie:

The page is divided up into an imaginary grid (about 6 x 4 squares covering most of the screen). A photo is revealed by fading in each square randomly 1 at a time until the photo is complete (with grid lines showing above it).

This is easily achived using simple tweening animations, but for the next step to work I think it all needs to be done using A/S somehow:

A second image begins to appear a square at a time, on top of the first. So in the beginning 1 or 2 squares of image 2 are mixed in with image 1, which gradually builds until image 2 is complete and image 1 has disappeared below it. This needs to happen on about 5 images.
