Description

Title: Simple water feature control unit
Goal: Design and build replicable solution to detect water at a high level mark starting a pump to move water from lower chamber to high level chamber and stop when the low water mark is reached.

• Water flows freely from upper chamber to lower chamber
• In lower chamber sensor detects if water is at the high level mark – when detected a pump is switched on
• When the lower level mark is detected pump is switched off

Details
• Height of lower chamber is 150mm high, width 150mm, length 250mm
• High water mark is set at about 120mm
• Low water mark is set to about 5-10mm

Notes
• The high and low water mark need to be moveable and are not going to be exact
• This is a very low cost design, the most cost effective parts are required
• Sensors will be operating in water, probably with a high rust content
• Control unit can be outside lower chamber (i.e. not immersed in water) however preferred to be inside lower unit (smaller is better)
• Basic parts to be sourced/purchased and agreed upon before purchase
o Water pump – 240v (max US$8-12)
o Reed switched (max US$4 each)
o Various electronics (to be discussed)

• Completed product delivered with all components connected and operational
• Parts list and contact details i.e. where to source in future
• Design document detailing construction and operation including electronics
