Description

I have an MS Access database of 800 newspaper pages from 1928 that were scannned into pdf format. The image quality is very poor. I need someone to open each file, search for a specific word on each newspaper page, and where each word is identified on the newspaper page, I need the entire article copied and corrected or completely rewritten into another field within the MS Access database.

In order to do this job, you will need to know a little bit about MS Access (not much as I will create an interface for you to work with), .pdf documents and how to search and copy, and a STRONG understanding of the English language (as the articles are written but you will have to be able to interpret words that didn't scan in well).

After each grouping of 50 records you will send me back a copy of the database so I can incorporate your results into my master file.

Deadline to complete all 800 records is January 30, 2009, but you will have to submit your work on a regular basis.

Example:
The attached file shows how each article is scanned into pdf format and below is what it says in the article and how I would need it to look in the database. (This is a very small article. Some articles are much longer).

"A moment that John Sullivan of Decatur will not soon forget was when he had the honor of shaking hands with Captain Emilio Carranza, Mexico Good Will flyer, who was killed last Thursday when his plane crashed in New Jersey.
Captain Carranza visited West Point military academy on his way to New York and it was while inspecting the academy corps there that Sullivan, an acting captain in the corps, was introduced to him. He is shown here shaking hands with Carranza.
Sullivan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Sullivan, 1600 West Grand avenue and is now a second-year man at West Point. He was graduated from Decatur high school in 1926, took preparatory work at the Sianton-Loomis academy and entered West Point in July 1927 as the appointed of the late Senator W. B. McKinley."
