Extract text (assay) values from PDF filesThis contract is similar to previous projects number 492548, 493106
Several sample DATA files in PDF format have been uploaded for demonstration purposes. The PDF files have been run through OCR software.
The work primarily consists of
1) transferring and formatting the ASCII data,
2) aligning the data into columns (and rows)
3) adding commas to separate (delimit) values
4) simple error checking
for example:
I instead of 1
or 9 misread as 1
or D misread as O
5) saving data in ASCII text files
with comma separated values (CSV)
The data sets are for a large drill holes cut into the ground for mineral exploration.
The bulk of the text can be transferred into a text editor using 'cut and paste'.
Although we use jEdit, a free open source text editor, the choice of software is contractor's choice.
The text data must be saved in either .CSV format (comma separated values.)or as excel spreadsheet files.
If you plan to submit a sample, to show us you understand the assignment, we suggest you just do a few rows (up to 10). We can review your work without you spending too much time or compromising the contract.
It would make sense to us if potential contractors would base their bids on an offer to complete at least 5 files. There are between 4 to 8 pages per file. The data rows are double spaced.
THE INITIAL CONTRACT IS FOR ONLY $30 OF WORK. So bid on the number of pages and or files you will process accordingly.
