Positivity and Negativity…Which way do you bend? Is your glass full or half empty? This age old question can and will reflect your outlook on life. What is your attitude toward yourself? Are you an optimist or a pessimist? There are some studies that show, through personality tests, how well one lives their life and can determine how long one may live it. If this is true then it would be a smart idea for all of us to go head -first into gaining a positive perspective. Stress management can only work if positive thinking is thrown into the mix. Achieving positive thinking is not as easy as on may think. We all have an endless stream of thoughts that run through our heads daily. This is known as self-talk. Self-talk can be positive or negative thoughts that come from logic and reason. However, misconceptions can cause negative self-talk because of lack of information and knowledge. If thoughts that run through a person’s head are mostly negative then they have a pessimistic view of life. How do I solve this you may ask? Weed like a gardener! Weed out the negative misconceptions and irrational thinking that challenges your mind. Give into those positive thoughts that come creeping in at what you think are inopportune times. If, no when you do this you will gradually become more realistic and self-affirming and guess what????? YOU ARE A POSITIVE THINKER! This was an article I wrote for a Critical Thinking Class.
