It is also used by active day traders and pit traders. Technical analysis was not very popular in the 1960s and the 1970s. Even the users of technical analysis feel that it cannot predict the future but it can still help to identify the correct trading opportunities. Technical analysis is used more often than fundamental analysis in the foreign exchange markets all over the world. Experts feel that when all trading signals are combined in a combined signal approach, it can gradually lead to increased profitability of the business and reduce its dependence on any type of single rule. People who use technical analysis are often called market technicians or simply technicians. Many people like to be called a technical market analyst. People used to refer to a term called chartist in old times. However it has now become rare to use this term as it has become too generic. So how do technical analysts actually do the analysis? They actually identify the various trends and price patterns in the financial markets in the form of different types of charts. Technicians search for certain patterns in the charts called archetypal patterns such as double top and also indicators like moving averages. They also look for certain forms such as lines of channels, resistance and support or any other type of obscure formations such as balance days, pennants and flags. Technical analyst also make use of other mathematical formulae related to the price and volume. From these indicators the analyst determines whether the asset is tending in the direction of the price. Even the relationships between the volume and price can be determined by technical analysts. Technical analysis can also be used in the study of correlations between the changes in pull/call ratios and other sentiment indicators. Technical try to forecast the gains by forecasting the price movements based on previous data based in successful trades. These trades had produced good returns in the long run. There are in fact several approaches or schools in regards to technical analysis. Some of these thoughts include Dow theory, candlestick charting and Elliott wave theory. Some traders may ignore one of the approaches while some others may take the viewpoint of all the approaches. They may even combine two approaches and calculate the results.

Please find attached a short writing sample on gender roles and inequality: Gender inequality has been an unfortunate fact of political, social and economic norms for many years. Very recently, it has been acknowledged that many of the reform and development projects implemented have ignored this issue, or at least not given it the attention needed to change the current processes. There have been several shifts in development theory in the past few decades that have allowed this issue to rise to the forefront of development policies. It has been noticed that gender roles and inequality in those roles is causing the continued marginalization of about half of developing country’s population, women. Traditionally, policies were implemented based solely upon how they would affect economic growth. In the latest era of policy making, good governance and human rights are issues that development organizations now take into consideration when making policy choices. Both of these areas are of special importance to the well being of women. As citizens that have less access to information, freedoms, rights and a political voice, the traditional role of women has been in the household, or as laborers in agriculture. They were limited by societal norms from voicing their needs, or playing an active role in their societies. Development agencies have worked with local women’s groups, state institutions and international actors to determine what types of policies would best assert the need for gender equality, and promote the furthering of women’s rights. Many of these policies met with local resistance from men and the firmly established institutions of power. Yet, working at a grassroots level and using power form the top-down; many inroads have been made in this area. As with all development policies, there is a need to re-structure deep-seeded cultural biases and beliefs about the inferiority of women’s gender roles. In addition, the expansions of what these gender roles are is an important aspect of empowering women. An example of moving women out of their limited gender role is in the Indian political process. One third of electorates to the local level government seats were reserved by the state for women. This step was a major start for reformed gender roles, but much more was needed. These women lacked legitimacy in office, as most saw them there by a favor from the government. A NGO, the Confederation of Voluntary Associations (COVA), realized that many of these women needed assistance to gain the respect of their fellow politicians and constituents. They implemented meetings and booklets to provide guidance and support for these women. From their support and increased confidence, many of the women began to speak at government meetings, support women friendly legislature and play an active role in supporting their community through politics. These actions began to give them the legitimacy they had previously lacked. It also opened up the door to discussions about the role of women at home, especially those who were also held a job outside the home. Many men had never even considered helping in the household as that was traditionally a woman’s role. But this process began to allow for a dialogue to emerge questioning these traditional roles, and allowing for the possibility of change. The changes made thus far in development policies and gender roles have been small but powerful. There are many more challenges to be faced and problems that have yet to be realized. But allowing for any kind of discussion to open challenging these traditional gender roles has been a key component in the empowerment of women as equal citizens within their state. Development agencies have realized that this is a very delicate issue that requires extensive support from many groups to be successful. They have also realized that for true reform to take place, societal norms must be re-examined, and the traditional institutions reformed to allow for a change in typical gender roles.
