But more so is the fact that a baby's skin is easily in contact with their urine and stool. Urine and stool have chemical contents that may aggravate your baby's skin. Diaper rashes occur more frequently in babies 8 to 12 months, particularly because of the change in their diets. Therefore, it's important to be on the watch as your youngster progresses in months. Breast-fed babies might experience this less frequently. However, a breast-feeding mother's diet should reduce acid-rich intake. You can have your baby try different diaper brands if he's susceptible to rashes. Different brands often exhibit different absorption qualities. The gels inside the diaper work to minimize contact between urine and your baby's skin. Experimenting with several brands might be a good idea. Many diapers also have 'wetness indicators' on them, which might be a good reference for you as well. Change your baby's diaper as soon as they are soiled, not only because they are uncomfortable with the extra baggage on their nappies, but more importantly because we don't want microorganisms in stools and urine to incubate on your baby's sensitive skin. Use water pressure bulbs instead of wipes to clean up. Wipes does have chemical contents too, which may function as an irritant if you're baby is particularly sensitive. A practical way to do this is to use bulbs at home where it's convenient and use wipes only when you're out and someplace else. If you're worried about accidents, you can use clean cloth on top of a water-resistant pad. Allow your baby to go without diapers for short period. Remember, one of the biological requirements of harmful microorganisms is moisture. If your baby do have a rash, giving him/her this 'rest time' from another set of nappies would allow his/her skin to dry out. In a nutshell, keeping your baby's skin clean dry should help avoid diaper rashes. Also remember not too secure your baby's diaper tightly such that it leaves no room for air to circulate. Despite your best preventive measures, however, you might have to battle out diaper rashes. The quickest way to address diaper rashes is to use specially formulated creams. Balmex Diaper Rash Cream's Zinc-Oxide component acts as a barrier between your baby's sensitive skin and potential irritants such as spitted milk, stool, urine and other chemicals.
