We are creating a PC based movie server. This system will be run Windows or Linux. Users will be able to drop a DVD in the drive and have it automatically loaded into the system.

They will be presented with a graphical interface in which to select a movie to watch. While selecting they will be able to select between multiple views (title list, movie poster view, etc). They will also be presented with movie information such as plot, director, rating, etc.

When the user picks a movie to play it will be sent to VLC media player. The transition from our system to VLC needs to be 100% seamless, so that the user thinks it’s all 1 program.

The closest thing to what we want is XBMC, an open source media center. However, this program does more then what we require and is extremely buggy. Our system needs to be rock solid.

I have done simillar project for one of usa BASED CUSTOMER , for a SetTop box application. we had java application that strips off the movie meta data and gives the complete list of movie list. on click of that the movie will play. using standard moviw player We can do this project as well . we are one of leading software development company in india. please see our PM and respond back Thanks MAhendiran
