Description

I built this database a long time ago, and it was working fine until upgrades to access 07 which has now caused it to error out when attempting to use an active x control.

Heres how the system works:
users take pictures with a floppy drive camera or camera card
they insert floppy or card into computer
run the database, database prompts them for file location
database pulls all the images off the source location
then the user picks which 2 shots they want to use for a print out
then the user picks what custom text they want under the 2 shots
all that is combined in a 1 page report.
the report is adjusted perfectly to fit in a custom matte and picture frame.
the memory card/floppy disk is discarded or given to the person who gets the frame. no long term storage of hte photos is needed.

The database uses dbpix (http://www.ammara.com/) to handle images

I am not a programmer, i just mash things together, so keep that in mind when reviewing the code.

I am looking for someone to do the following:

Review the database and clean up the code:
-I dont care if you keep using dbpix or re-code the parts, all that matters is that the report output is exactly the same in terms of image size, placement, etc.
-Id like you to get rid of all my hard coded variables and instaed reference an .ini file or soemthing along those lines, where all the locations/paths are referenced in a single place.
-Use remarks and doc the code.

- address some bugs:

bug 1) system should show all the images it grabbed after grabbing images off the source,, currently doesnt.

2) at the point when the user selects the 2 images they want, the system supports multi page views (i.e. db shows 8 pictures per page, so will go into multiple pages if there are more then 8 pictures) however they cant actually select any images beyond the first page. should be able to select any image on any page.

3) fix the errors that stop it from working completely - make it compatible with office 07.
---
- id like you to make this as future-proof as possible. I dont want to do this again next office release. If you have no way of doing this, so be it, but I thought id communicate it.

- people have recommended me to do this in vba and make it an executable. the problem is i dont have visual studio lying around, and im very concerned about losing the source code in a few years.. id like to keep it in access format if possible just to keep things open ended.

winning bidder i will give all the files and such to. right now i jst included a copy of the database so you can review the code. if you want to see how dbpix works im pretty sure you can download a trial version from their website, but whatever.

**I am EXTREMELY BUSY at the moment - It will take me some time to get back to you, it is nothing personal. - as such Im looking for someone with initiative to do this and do a little guessing as to what would work best, as i am not available to answer questions all the time.

Im looking to have this running by next tuesday. If you resolve the bug that stops it from running in 07 by tuesday that means you have as much time as you need to complete the other parts. Oryou can have it all done by tuesday - the bottom line is I need them to be able to use the program and have the program output the report by tuesday. Not functional by tuesday = no payment.

I am offering around 90$ for this project.
