Hello! I am writing you in response to the project you posted, "C++ Programmer Required - Sockets Programming". What follows is a brief outline of how I intend to implement your specifications, a summary of my expertise and experience, and an explanation of my cost and time estimates. Since I am as yet unaware of the full specification of your project, I am unable to currently provide a detailed explanation of how it will work. For my cost and time estimates, I will therefore assume that you require a client (written in C/C++) that connects to a server using TCP and authenticates, then tries to run text-based commands, which come from somewhere outside the program (e.g. user input), and receives and interprets responses from the server. I have been a professional programmer for over 7 years, and have performed many sockets-based tasks. I have written my own networked game engine, I've developed a SMTP client library, I've authored a client for a remote data backup system, as well as a number of smaller tasks, like a server and client for transmitting sensor data over a network. My cost estimate is based on the client I described above. This is at a rate of $50 per hour, for approximately 3 hours of work. This may change upon hearing your requirements, but I suspect it won't change much if your needs are similarly simple.
