Description

We currently offer RAM and CPUs for sale via our website, and would like to add the functionality to scan the users computer (at their request) to identify what kind of hardware and software is in their computer. Based on this information, we want to be able to show them products that we sell that would be compatable upgrades for their specific machine. We also want the ability to store this information and tag it with their contact info (e.g., email) so that we can email them target promotions. Again, only bsed on them opting in.

An good example of this kind of tool can be seen at crucial dot com / systemscanner. If you go to their home page, just click on "Scan My System"

Ideally, we want to be able to:
1. Identify the current ram type, manufacturer, size and quantity, and other types of ram the computer supports
2. Identify how many ram slots in total are used and available on motherboard
3. Identify current operating system and version
4. Identify current processor chip, and other chips that would be compatible
5. Identify current monitor, and other monitors that would be compatible
6. Identify current graphics card or chip to potentially suggest upgrades
7. Identify current sound card or chip to potentially suggest upgrades
8. Identify type, manufacturer and size of hard drives as well as space used / available 9. Identify currently loaded software (e.g., ms office, quicken, etc.) and versions to potentially suggest software upgrades 10. Identify other hardware present in cpu 11. Identify manufacturer and model of computer

The use dynamic can be something like:
1. User clicks on "Check My System for Upgrades"
2. User redirected to page for system scanner
3. Unchecked checkbox next to "by selecting this box and clicking start, I agree to the terms and conditions" must be selected
4. Optional: Enter email to be notified of any upcoming specials that are compatible with your computer
5. Button for start my scan is pressed
6. Scan completes
7. Data is stored on our server
8. Upgrade options are presented
