Description

***************************************************************
First of all: no design need, no css, just develope the php engine and refine my db schema. I will add afterwards my css sheet.

Site must be developed in transitional markup, Xhtml and full compliance to w3c standards. It is also required a SEO optic development.

A tables-less structure is required. Please use DIVS, all identified by their ID or class.

Please enrich the code with comments.

Every website section must include her "breadcrumbs".

No CMS as Joomla admitted.

I will give the freelancer a Microsoft Access db schema to target the project. I need at the end of the project a complete mySQL dump but also the modified

"Access source".

This project is the first step to an ecommerce project.
The selected freelancer could be involved in subsequent developments.
***************************************************************

MAIN PROJECT SPECIFICS
**********************

The catalogue is organized in 4 different departments: strollers, carseats, cots&cribs, bags. All items prices are in Euros and an external xml file (or db table) will provide the currency conversion in US dollars, UK sterlings and scandinavian main currencies.

Each department has one or more commercial subcategories, as follows:

Strollers: Prams, Strollers, Modular Systems, For twins, Chassis
Carseats: Infant carseats, Toddler carseats, Booster seats
Cots & Cribs: bassinet, rockers, cots, cribs, travel cots
Bags: bags, carriers, knapsacks

Items must be associated to one or more commercial subcategories.

Furthermore, items could be "tagged": a stroller could be defined "lightweight stroller" or "three-wheels-stroller". This tag will be useful to refine user search (please, see above request about the subcategory page).

The database schema contains a hypothetical model, but any further
optimization is welcome. The database is deliberately lacking about the multi-language support. Consider that the catalogue should be translated in the next future in at least 2 other languages.

The 6 dynamic pages:

1) the homepage;
2) the department page;
3) the subcategory page;
4) the item detail page;
5) the research result page;
6) the comparison page.

Common elements to all pages:

an header, provided by the website logo area, a simple search form (textfield + submit button), a select menu for the currencies and the available languages;
breadcumps;
a footer (blocked DIV), at the moment with no content, I will populate it.

Please, give a special relief to the subcategory page and the comparison page, they must be a clone of pricegrabber:

http://babies-kids.pricegrabber.com/baby-strollers/p/1997/st=category/

Main importance must be given the the left menu, where the user could add or remove one or more filters. I would appreciate just a difference from pricebrabber.com: all the items must be showed together, please do not page the results. Furthermore, items must be showed on a three columns grid.

Finally, the backoffice area must simply leave the administrator to
add/modify/remove/duplicate departments, subcategories and items.

When a user reaches the website the database must simple track: an unique session id, the user IP, the referrer, the language and the currency chosen.

Furthermore the database must keep track of each item visited by the user. No registratrion is required to the website.

I am experienced with php, mysql, html and javascript, making this something that should not be all that hard. I'll take it right away.
