Description

The project consist on cloning the commercial software Surfer 8 by Golden Software. The Surfer 8 version is pretty old, several years, but anyway is still a choice on the scientific/surveying field because lack of counterprt. It´s interface shows age, some tasks are very easy but others are just tiresome. The goal of the project is to present a much modern version and much easier to work with.

Things to preserve:
Easiness to import unconfigured raw data.
Wide range of interpollating algorithms. (maybe less, not all are useful)
Great graphic results.

Things to improve:
Modern and Presetted graphic configuration interfase (not same but on the line of MS Excel 2007)
Multiple configuration of same data(again in excel same data can be used for any kind of graphics, on surfer only one interfase for flat, one for 3d, etc, and it´s tedious)
More ways to enter data and better spreadsheet. (now only import available, not drag and drop or copy-paste)
Dinamic 3d view of the model with easier Zoom and handling tools. (now only static and the view have to be changed on the config screen. Always working on "paper space" this is not needed at all, much better scale free like Autocad)
Better options to export the resulting graphics and data. (Autocad, Google Earth, Office)


Overall orientation is usefulness and simplicity, not overkill.
