Description

We need a program developed that will perform ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) captured from tables of hand printed data. We have decided to use “Smartscan Xpress™ ICR/OCR/OMR v4” for the ICR capture, this SDK provides all the functionality you need for performing the ICR capture.

The SDK’s engine is used in the form of A ActiveX/COM control and does most of the actual ICR work, your job will be to build a program that:

- Collects pages from a Twain interface feeder scanner

- Feed these pages into the ICR engine and have them matched to forms

- Tell ICR engine to process forms and collect results, format results in tables and display to user.

- Validate results by matching them to a list of acceptable results defined in a text file, and possible using patterns.

- Save data as plain text files using tabbed data that reflects the tables of results collected.

- The SDK comes with a lot of easy to follow documentation and Example code for each Form matching and processing of the forms into text, these could be used in the final product.

We have looked around and have decided that this Free control for capturing images from twain device should be sufficient.

We would like the product developed in Visual Basic .NET or VB6 the SDK supports both of these and has examples for both.

Where you can View all the information on the SDK and you can also download a trial of the SDK that can be used to develop with, The trials only limitation is it pops up a nag window when the engine is run. The trial includes all of the documentation and example code.

Budget does not include the purchase of the SDK, this will be discussed after bidding.

The project may require additional work in the future if features need to be added or refined.

Programming will need to be neat, well structured and preferable commented on in the source so that alterations or additions will be easy to implement in the future.

have developed application for comparison between MS Word text document and PDF/Scanned version. Comparison is not 1 to 1, due to design changes. During application development used following Finereader Engine as OCR system, VintaSoft ActiveX component was used for twain source.

I have more than 4 years experiences plus > 30 projetcs in document imaging to capture document using TWAIN/ISIS, data capturing for OCR/ICR/MICR/Barcode/page recognition/form recognition/fulltext recognition.The EZTwain seems to be good as it is runtime royalty free. I will suggest to have 6 main modules for your application. (a) Admin module to draw zones/tables for recognition, configure recognition profiles, & etc (b) Scan program to scan page/batch (c) Recognition which perform zone/page/form recognition (d) Validation module to do correction (e) Release module to save document & data into a specific destination (f) Quality control module incase anything goes wrong with the batch Each of the modules can be easily add in custom user controls for functions enhancement, instead of recomplie the module again. For more details, i can show you the flexiblity of this idea. Sample of the scenario: (1) user scan in a batch of 20 pages using scan module (2) The batch is routed to recognition module & perform recognition (3) The batch is routed to validation module to verify results (4) The batch is routed to release module to archive the image & data to a configured destination
