Talk to an airsofter and an expert on guns. All gun safety rules apply to airsoft. This sould be a real easy piece. The NRA and and about every police department has the basic information -- just add a couple of interviews and make the lead engaging.

Hand signals for airsoft teams
There is a plethora of info on this. The Army has several guides available online, as do about dozen related fan sites. Make the story about the importance of using non-verbal communication in a tactical situation. Avoid describing the hand signals themselves, unless you can provide images to show the signal.
